Lifelong Norfolk native, Army National Guard veteran, U.S. Merchant Mariner, and community leader committed to giving back to the city that shaped him.
Read Full Bio →Harvey L. Waters Sr. is a lifelong Norfolk native whose roots run deep in the Lambert's Point community where he was born and raised, and to which he proudly returned to establish and coach a Little League baseball program serving children ages 7 through 12. Through that work, he found his calling: mentoring young people and instilling in them the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance that have defined his own life.
A proud resident of Norfolk for more than 58 years, President Waters brings a distinguished record of service to his leadership of Branch #7098. He served four years in the Army National Guard and dedicated more than a decade to the U.S. Merchant Marine, a career that took him far from home while his commitment to Hampton Roads never wavered. He is a graduate of Maury High School, Class of 1982.
In addition to his civic and military service, President Waters is a local entrepreneur, operating a mobile welding business that serves the greater 757 area. He has been a member of the Norfolk Branch NAACP for over eight years, drawn by the same conviction that has guided every chapter of his life: that the community which shapes us deserves everything we have to give in return.
